The Texas Department of Insurance is accepting applications for the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association board of directors after the makeup of the board was changed by the 84th Legislature.
Under Senate Bill 900, the board will include:
- Three board members who live in coastal counties, including one who is a licensed property and casualty insurance agent.
- Three board members who live at least 100 miles from the coast.
- Three insurance industry representatives who write and renew windstorm and hail insurance along the Gulf Coast. These members must be nominated by insurers that are members of TWIA.
All members of the TWIA board must have demonstrated experience in insurance, general business, or actuarial principles as well as their individual area of expertise.
The new board terms will begin October 1.
The deadline for applications is August 15. Application forms are available on the TDI website at: http://www.tdi.texas.gov/forms/publicaffairs/PA032.pdf.
