Workers’ compensation insurer, Texas Mutual Insurance Co., was recently named the winner of the Higginbotham Health & Wellness Award in the large business category at the 2014 Greater Austin Business Awards, the largest business event in Central Texas. Organized by the Austin Chamber of Commerce, the awards honor excellence in business in the Greater Austin region.
The Higginbotham Health & Wellness Award recognizes an exceptional organization that actively encourages employees to engage in a healthy and well-balanced lifestyle.
Texas Mutual received the award based on its commitment to helping employees maintain a healthy lifestyle through a wellness program that includes online health improvement tools, health risk assessments, wellness coaching, onsite fitness centers, onsite flu shots, yoga classes, a walking program, Weight Watchers at Work and wellness incentives.
“At Texas Mutual, we help our employees make wellness a part of their everyday lives, so we are proud to receive recognition for our wellness programs,” Richard Gergasko, president and chief executive officer of Texas Mutual, said. “When employees have access to valuable wellness resources, they lower their risk of experiencing serious health complications, which means we have a healthier, more productive workforce.”
Other award winners in the health and wellness category were EX Squared Solutions (small business) and Snap Kitchen (mid-sized business).
