A Pittsburg County jury has awarded the city of McAlester more than $3 million in a judgment against a former city manager.

The McAlester News-Capital reports that a 12-person jury awarded the city $3.35 million in damages.

Federal investigators had found that former City Manager Randy Green had sold back vacation and sick leave to the city that he was not entitled to. Green was also accused of transferring city bond money to other accounts. He was sentenced to 51 months in federal prison in 2006 for embezzling from the city.

The jury rejected Green’s counter-claim that he was entitled to severance pay.

Green is still receiving a monthly pension of nearly $3,700 from the city of McAlester. He and his attorneys contend it should be double.
