Texas State Fire Marshal Chris Connealy is urging all fire chiefs, fire marshals and local law enforcement officers to take advantage of the Texas Arson Hotline, which is supported by A Texas Advisory Council on Arson (ATAC).

The Texas Arson Hotline rewards anonymous callers who turn in suspects who have intentionally set fires. Calls that lead to an arrest can result in rewards up to $1,000.

“The Texas Arson Hotline is a tool that can provide assistance to every fire investigator in Texas,” said State Fire Marshal Chris Connealy. “Placing arson hotline posters at the scene of suspicious fires provides the public a phone number to call if they have any information about the fire.”

The Texas Arson Hotline is open 24 hours, seven days a week.

Once a call comes into the Texas Arson Hotline, the operator notifies the State Fire Marshal’s Office who in turn notifies fire investigators in the local area. Individuals whose calls have resulted in arrests are paid within a matter of days.

The financial rewards come from ATAC, the members of which include fire and insurance special investigators throughout the state.
