A Winnsboro, La., agent was served by the Louisiana Department of Insurance Fraud Section Investigators with a cease and desist order, a summary suspension order and a $10,000 fine notice for alleged misrepresentation.
The case against Todd Samuel Easterling was referred to Louisiana State Police Insurance Fraud/Auto Theft Unit. He has been arrested and charged with 33 counts of insurance fraud, 30 counts of forgery and one count of felony theft.
Easterly allegedly wrote bogus AFLAC policies on two employer groups for persons who were not employed with nor have ever been employed with the groups, in order to receive the commissions. The two employee groups are located in Winnsboro and Sicily Island, La.
Department records show that Easterling held a Life, Accident & Health license, which was summarily suspended.
Easterling has 30 days from the time of notice to file a written demand for an administrative hearing to contest the regulatory action taken against him by the Department of Insurance.
