Houston-based HCC Insurance Holdings Inc. has elected Christopher J. B. Williams as chairman of the company’s board of directors. He succeeds J. Robert Dickerson who resigned as chairman for personal reasons, but will continue as a member of the board.
Williams, who is currently chairman of Wattle Creek Winery, is a retired Willis Re veteran and was that company’s national director for Life, Accident & Health. He joined HCC’s board in 2007 and has been a member of its Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee. Williams has more than 30 years of experience in the insurance industry.
In addition, Robert A. Rosholt was elected as an independent member of the board. He fills a new board seat created on Aug. 20, 2008.
Rosholt recently retired from his position as executive vice president — chief financial officer for Nationwide in Columbus, Ohio, a position he has held since 2002. Before joining Nationwide, he was executive vice president and chief of Operations-Risk Services with AON. Earlier, he spent more than 25 years with First Chicago Corporation/Bank One, holding a number of management positions.
