After a rejection in June, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal has again asked for the president to declare Caddo, Bossier and six other parishes federal disaster areas because of storms in May.
Wind and rain caused more than $4 million in damage statewide, according to a letter Jindal sent to President Bush.
Federal law gives governors about a month to ask again for money following an initial rejection.
Jindal says the original damage assessment was done quickly and did not identify or evaluate all of the damage from the May storms.
Caddo received the brunt of the storm damage and was the main focus of Jindal’s letter. Some 457 homes were damaged, and about 400 of those had no insurance coverage.
