Austin, Texas-based independent insurance agency, Watkins Insurance Group, announced the acquisition of Matz Insurance Agency, Austin.

Established in 2002, Matz Insurance Agency offers both commercial and personal lines of insurance.

The acquisition is part of an ongoing growth strategy for Watkins Insurance Group. In January the firm acquired AIC-Sun Belt Group Inc.

Founded in 1949, Watkins Insurance Group has grown by more than 20 percent annually since 1994 and currently has 81 employees.

Headquartered in Austin, Watkins Insurance Group has nine Texas locations, including offices in Cedar Park, Hawkins, Holly Lake, Longview, Marble Falls, Mineola, Tyler and Waco.
