Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner Carroll Fisher announced the elimination of the Imaging Division from his office, a move he says will save the state thousands of dollars in taxes.
The division’s duties included scanning insurance policies and other papers into the agency’s computer system. Now, the insurance department will contract these tasks to the Department of Corrections to save tax dollars.
Employees who were formerly part of the division were assigned to other areas in the agency, filling vacancies created through normal attrition. Fisher had held the positions open in anticipation of eliminating the Imaging Division.
