American International Group (ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½) said Shane Fitzsimons, executive vice president and chief financial officer, is taking a temporary medical leave of absence, effective immediately.
Mark Lyons will serve as ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½’s CFO in Fitzsimons’ absence. Lyons will also continue his role as EVP, global chief actuary and head of portfolio management, ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ said.
Lyons was CFO of the insurer until October 2021, when ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ announced he’d step into the newly created role he currently holds and Fitzsimons would become CFO effective at the start of last year.
Fitzsimons joined ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ in July 2019 as global head of Shared Services. Before becoming CFO, he served as executive vice president and chief administrative officer, which included head of Financial Planning & Analysis. Fitzsimons also oversaw the modernization initiative ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ 200. Previously, he spent 23 years at GE.
