American International Group has named Karen L. Ling as executive vice president, chief human resources officer.
Ling will lead ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½’s global human resources department and be responsible for aligning ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½’s talent strategy with the company’s long-term strategic, operational and financial objectives. She will oversee all aspects of human capital management including talent acquisition, training, development, compensation and benefits, and diversity and inclusion.
Ling joins ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ from Allergan, where for the past five years she served as executive vice president and chief human resources officer. Previously she was senior vice president, Human Resources, for Merck & Co.’s Global Human Health and Consumer Care businesses worldwide. Prior to Merck, she was group vice president, Global Compensation & Benefits, at Schering-Plough and prior to that she also spent 14 years at Wyeth.
Based in New York, Ling will report to ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ President and Chief Executive Officer Brian Duperreault and will join the ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ Executive Leadership Team.
