PAK Programs, specialty insurer of alcoholic beverage manufacturers and distributors, has introduced a program designed for mead producers, Meadery PAK.
The program is underwritten by Great American Insurance Group.
Larry Chasin, president of PAK Programs, said meaderies, which are part of the craft brewing industry and produce mead or what is also called honey wine, were previously insured under PAK’s Winery Pak insurance program. However, Chasin said industry growth warranted the development of a meadery-specific product.
Meadery PAK provides all lines of insurance coverage for mead risks, including:
- Mead products and mead contamination
- Leakage of mead
- Tanks & barrels
- Farm buildings
- Cyber risk
The coverage is accompanied by risk control services ranging from location surveys to emergency planning to alcohol server training. Covered risks include mead production, mead production for others, mead storage, barrel aging programs, special events, lodging, farms and more.
Meadery PAK is available in most states and is offered exclusively through local agents and brokers.
Pak Programs designs, administers and markets customized insurance programs for wineries and vineyards, breweries, wine and liquor retailers, cideries, meaderies, distilleries, and liquor and wine importers and distributors.
