Online insurance seller Esurance, which offered fake Election Insurance in an April Fools’ Day prank that it says created a “furor of demand” from Americans this election year, has created a sweepstakes for people who want to “explore their future homeland” after the presidential election.
The insurer says the $10,000 sweepstakes is meant as consolation to those interested in the Election Insurance that was not real.
To enter, people only need to using #MakeYourEscapeSweeps on Twitter. Only one contestant can win.
The April Fools’ Day prank offered protection of people’s abandoned homes for the next four years while they flee the United States following the presidential election. Standard options included weekly home maintenance, premium options included the holiday overachiever, and platinum options included a simulated teenage breakups.
“While that offering still isn’t real, we heard you loud and clear and want to offer one lucky person the chance to explore a new potential homeland should the election not go their way. Beginning today, tweet where you’d like to explore, whether a cabin in Canada or chateau in France, using #MakeYourEscapeSweeps on Twitter for the chance to win $10,000,” the insurer said in its announcement.
The sweepstakes will run through Thursday, October 13.
