American International Group Inc. (ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½) has named Jeremy Johnson as president and chief executive officer of its excess and surplus (E&S) lines unit, Lexington Insurance Co. in Boston.
Johnson replaces David Bresnahan, who left ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ Friday with three other ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ executives to work for Berkshire Hathaway.
Johnson will report to Robert Schimek, who was named president and chief executive officer of ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ Property Casualty’s Americas region earlier today, replacing Peter Eastwood, who also went to Berkshire Hathaway.
ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ said the Johnson appointment is immediate and he will be based in Boston.
Johnson most recently served as Specialty Product Line Executive, U.S. & Canada, for ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ Property Casualty, overseeing business lines including aerospace, marine, environmental, SME, trade credit, political risk and surety.
With ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ since 2000, Johnson has had underwriting, sales, and managerial roles, including president of Cat Excess Liability, a division of Lexington Insurance; and regional vice president for Commercial Property Casualty, Midatlantic region. He also spent several years in various roles in the Boston office of ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ Property Casualty.
Prior to joining ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½, Johnson was a director and officers liability broker for Sedgwick Inc. and Marsh Inc.
The appointment of Johnson came just days news broke of the four departing executives: Eastwood, CEO of ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ Property Casualty in the Americas; Bresnahan, president of ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½’s excess and surplus unit, Lexington Insurance; Sanjay Godhwani, president for Latin America and the Caribbean for ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ Property Casualty; and David Fields, head of global casualty for ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½.
ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ has moved quickly to fill the vacancies, naming Alexander Baugh to replace Fields as head ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½’s global casualty business, along with the Schimek and Johnson appointments.
The company is still considering candidates for Godwani’s position for Latin American and Caribbean operations.
