Zurich has announced that SWBC, a diversified financial services company, will be a program administer writing excess flood policies for Zurich in all 50 states. The policies will provide coverage above the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and will cover homes and businesses both inside and outside of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) designated flood zone areas.
Most standard flood insurance policies only provide coverage up to $250,000 for residential properties and up to $500,000 for commercial properties. Excess Flood insurance ensures that additional funds will be available if the estimated cost to rebuild a home or business is higher.
The coverage also provides:
- Up to $5 million to rebuild properties valued above NFIP limits. However, higher limits can be obtained.
- The replacement of stand-alone contents valued above the NFIP limits – up to $5 Million. Higher limits are available.
- Money for additional living expenses.
- Protection against business interruption.
