Paul Kangas has joined specialty insurer Assurant Inc. as vice president of federal policy and government relations, based in Washington, D.C.
Kangas will be responsible for federal legislative and regulatory issues as they relate principally to Assurant Solutions and Assurant Specialty Property businesses.
Kangas most recently served as assistant vice president of federal government relations for the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America (PCI), which he joined in 2006. He has 15 years of federal affairs experience. While at PCI, he led strategic efforts for the property casualty industry on federal legislative and regulatory activities. Prior to joining PCI, he served as a senior professional staff member for the U. S. House Financial Services Committee.
