ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ Names Winter, Vice Chairman; Hurd, Vice President

American International Group Inc. (ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½) named Matthew E. Winter, 52, ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ senior vice president, president and CEO of American General Life Cos., has been named vice chairman, Transition Planning and Administration, reporting to ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ Chairman and CEO Edward M. Liddy. In this position, Winter succeeds Richard H. Booth, 62, who has retired.

Winter will continue to serve as president and CEO of American General Life Cos., a position he has held since joining ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ in 2006. He was elected ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ senior vice president in March 2007. Previously, he served as executive vice president and member of the Office of the CEO for MassMutual Financial Group.

ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ also announced that Jeffrey Hurd, 42, has been named ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ vice president and chief administrative officer and will oversee ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½’s global operations and systems, corporate administration and a variety of special projects, reporting to Winter.

Hurd will continue to serve as senior vice president and head of asset management restructuring, reporting to Paula Reynolds. He joined ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ in 1998 in the Corporate Legal Department, and was most recently ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ Investments senior managing director, chief administrative officer and general counsel.

Commenting on the appointments, Liddy said Winter and Hurd will play key roles in ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½’s efforts to restructure its businesses and repay the government assistance it has received.
