ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ Introduces Service to Assist with Homeland Security Compliance

May 15, 2007

ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ Homeland Security Solutions, a specialty unit of the property and casualty subsidiaries of American International Group Inc. (ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½), introduced Chemical Security Compliance Service, a new service available to ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ Companies’ insureds that assists clients in adhering to new U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) chemical facility anti-terrorism standards.

The service addresses the DHS requirement that high risk chemical facilities prepare a risk and vulnerability assessment, develop security plans and implement a suite of security measures. The new DHS requirement pertains to companies in many industries, including energy, manufacturing and transportation.

“ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ Homeland Security Solutions realizes the tremendous implications of the new DHS regulation for chemical facilities and the many enterprises that depend upon chemicals for their business operations,” said Robert Cruz, ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ Homeland Security Solutions Practice Leader. “The penalties for non-compliance can be severe and may result in fines or complete cessation of operations threatening a company’s bottom line.”

ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ Homeland Security Solutions will help insureds complete the Top-Screen portion of the DHS’s Chemical Security Assessment Tool (CSAT), the initial assessment that determines if a company is deemed high risk. For companies considered high risk, ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ Homeland Security Solutions will, for an additional fee, help insureds develop a security vulnerability assessment and a site security plan. ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ Homeland Security Solutions uses Risk Analysis and Management for Critical Asset Protection (RAMCAP), the methodology behind the new DHS regulation.

For companies that do not currently qualify for the Chemical Security Compliance Service, ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ Homeland Security Solutions offers ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ Business Protection Services, an all hazards crisis incident management service that includes risk and vulnerability assessments in addition to emergency action and continuity plans.
