American International Group has named David L. Herzog as its new comptroller. He has also been elected an ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ senior vice president, reporting to Steven J. Bensinger, ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ executive vice president and chief financial officer.
Robert A. Gender has been named treasurer and elected an ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ vice president. He will also report to Bensinger.
ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ has announced that its 2005 annual meeting of shareholders will be held on Aug. 11.
ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½’s board of directors has approved changes in ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½’s by-laws and governance guidelines to reflect the new policy that the chairman should be an independent director and that at least two-thirds of the directors should be independent under New York Stock Exchange listing standards.
Herzog had served as CFO for ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½’s Worldwide Life Insurance operations since 2004. Prior to that, he served as chief operating officer and CFO of ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½’s domestic life insurance companies, a position he held since the acquisition of American General Corporation in 2001.
Gender has served as ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ assistant treasurer since 2000, with principal responsibilities for managing ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½’s banking relations, liquidity and corporate finance. Gender joined ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ in 1998 as director of financial analysis. Prior to that, he had been with the Equitable Life Assurance Society.
