In a brief announcement American International Group said it intends “to seek a prompt resolution of outstanding issues with the Securities and Exchange Commission [See IJ Website Oct. 5 for details] and the United States Department of Justice [See IJ Website Oct. 21 for details].”
ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ said it has “instructed its counsel to resolve the matters by reaching a prompt settlement in terms satisfactory to the Government and the company.”
The bulletin made no mention of any settlement prospects concerning the ongoing investigations by New York’s Attorney General Eliot Spitzer into allegations concerning bid-rigging and contingent commissions.
