Zurich North America announced today that John McCartney has been named to the position of chief financial officer.
McCartney currently serves as CEO of Empire Fire and Marine, a business unit of Zurich North America that provides tailored insurance and financial solutions to small and mid-sized commercial markets.
McCartney assumes this position from Thomas Buess, who was named CFO of Zurich Financial Services Group, the parent organization of Zurich North America, in December 2001. McCartney began his insurance career with Liberty Mutual, where he rose from audit trainee in 1973 to vice president and corporate controller in 1986.
