The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has announced a major disaster declaration for several counties in Missouri, including Bollinger, Butler, Cape Girardeau, Carter, and others, due to severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes, and flooding that occurred from March 30 to April 8, 2025.
This declaration, issued on May 21, 2025, allows Private Non-Profit organizations that provide essential governmental services to apply for disaster loans through the SBA’s online portal or other local locations.
The disaster assistance is specifically for Public Assistance, which means it is aimed at helping communities recover from the damage to public infrastructure and facilities.
Non-Profit organizations can apply for loans to cover physical damages and economic injuries, with an interest rate of 3.625% for those without credit available elsewhere.
The deadline for physical loan applications is July 22, 2025, while the deadline for Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) applications is February 23, 2026.
This federal assistance is crucial for the affected counties to rebuild and restore essential services disrupted by the severe weather events.
