Carrie Haughawout, who joined the Ohio Department of Insurance (ODI) in 2011, has been appointed deputy director of the department, ODI Director Jillian Froment announced.
Froment, who had held the deputy director position prior to her appointment to director by Governor John R. Kasich on April 1, praised Haughawout’s previous ODI service as an assistant director of policy and product coordination.
“Carrie has been a great asset to our team over the last six years – especially at a time when the industry is changing so rapidly. Her keen understanding and steady counsel have been particularly important through what has been a challenging time for Ohio’s health care insurance market,” Froment said.
Haughawout previously worked at the Ohio Chamber of Commerce as the director of health care and small business council. Prior to that service, she served Ohio House leadership in various capacities.
