Republican Jon Godfread has won the election for insurance commissioner in North Dakota. He will replace Adam Hamm who did not seek re-election.
Godfread won with 64.4 percent of the vote, according to the North Dakota Secretary of State’s office. His next closest opponent was Ruth Buffalo, a Democrat, who received 26.8 percent of the vote.
Godfread currently serves as currently serves as vice president of government affairs for the Greater North Dakota Chamber. He received the endorsement of the North Dakota Republican party. Godfread and his wife, Amanda, have two young children and live in Bismarck.
Hamm was appointed insurance commissioner in October 2007 by then-Gov. John Hoeven to finish the term of incumbent Republican Jim Poolman, who resigned.
