Mercury Insurance Co. announced that its auto insurance rates for Illinois drivers are being reduced an average of 13.9 percent.
The reduction immediately applies to new customers and policy renewals beginning April 7, and will save Mercury policyholders an average of nearly $250 a year.
Mercury’s rate reduction applies to all drivers who get private passenger automobile liability, comprehensive or collision coverages.
Mercury operates through a network of 362 independent insurance agents in Illinois.
“Drivers may be able to save more than the average percentage we’re reporting based on various rating factors and the amount of coverage they purchase from Mercury,” said Robert Houlihan, Mercury vice president and chief product officer. “The rate reductions can also be combined with other discounts like good driver, multi-policy and our Auto+Home discount that could save customers up to eight percent more. The savings add up really fast.”
California-based Mercury also offers homeowners, condo owners and renters insurance, as well as and business auto insurance in Illinois.
