The Indiana Department of Homeland Security and local county emergency management agencies are renewing a call for people who sustained damage to homes or businesses to report it online as the state prepares to appeal the federal government’s decision against declaring Howard County a major disaster area following November storms.
Homeland Security is urging anyone who hasn’t reported damage in any county from the Nov. 17 storm to do so. Losses can include home damage and loss of personal property.
As part of Indiana’s appeal, Homeland Security officials have requested joint preliminary damage assessments for other severely affected counties: Boone, Davies, Fountain, Grant and Tippecanoe. Additional assessments will take place in Howard County. The assessments began on Dec. 16.
