Kansas transportation officials estimate it will cost about $300,000 to repair a Wichita bridge that was damaged when it was hit by a truck with an extended hydraulic boom.
Kansas Department of Transportation spokesman Tom Hein told The Wichita Eagle that the amount will be paid by Fremar Corp. or its insurance company. Fremar owns and operates the large trash hauler whose raised lift struck the north side of the bridge as it tried to pass underneath earlier this month.
The company also will get a bill of about $3,300 from the city for damage to a decorative street light fixture and pole.
Hein said the bridge repairs should be finished by Christmas.
