Farmers Insurance Group of Companies will build two new buildings and add an estimated 1,600 new jobs at its location in Caledonia, Michigan.
The company said that the development is attributable in part to an attractive incentives package offered by the Michigan Economic Development Corp. (MEDC).
Robert Woudstra, Farmers chief executive officer, said the firm will break ground this fall on a 175,000 square foot office building that will house a call center, a training facility, a branch of Farmers Credit Union and a fitness facility, as well as a 100,000 square foot print and distribution center.
“We will also use local vendors, including the general contractor, civil engineer and excavator for the project,” he said.
Farmers has been in Michigan since 1949.
