Some North Dakota workers’ compensation benefit recipients will see a 5.6 percent increase next month.
Workforce Safety and Insurance says it is the largest yearly inflation adjustment in at least 20 years.
The increase applies to people who get permanent total disability benefits, and survivor benefits from the death of a worker on the job.
The increase is tied to North Dakota’s average weekly wage. The inflation adjustment comes after benefits have been paid for at least three years.
Workforce Safety and Insurance says the agency’s maximum weekly benefit will also rise from $653 to $689 next month. The minimum benefit will go up from $356 to $376 per week.
The increases apply to job-related injuries that happen on July 1 or afterward.
