Stephen Six is taking over as the new Kansas attorney general.
Six replaces Paul Morrison, who’s leaving office because of a sex scandal.
The 42-year-old Douglas County judge took the oath of office at 10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 31st in the Senate chamber at the Statehouse. A spokeswoman said Gov. Kathleen Sebelius attended.
Sebelius passed over other candidates who were prosecutors or better-known politically to appoint Six to the job. But she’s praised him as having strong legal skills and “a great personal record.”
Morrison has acknowledged having an extramarital affair with a former subordinate but has denied her allegations of professional misconduct.
