Jay Poorman has been promoted to director in the investment banking unit of Chicago-based , a full-service independent investment banking firm specializing in the insurance industry. Previously, he was a vice president of the firm.
Poorman works with insurance industry clients in executing merger, acquisition and divestiture transactions, and is responsible for capital-raising activities for corporate clients. He began his career as an Analyst in the insurance group of the investment banking division of Smith Barney in 1995. He joined Cochran, Caronia & Co. in 1997, serving as an analyst, associate and vice president before rejoining Salomon Smith Barney in 2000. In 2003, he returned to Cochran, Caronia & Co.
