Aon Corp. announced that company employees who participated in the October 13 Chicago Marathon and the November 3 New York Marathon to support the Aon Memorial Education Fund had raised over $190,000.
“Over 120 runners from the US, Canada, Netherlands and United Kingdom shared the theme of ‘Running to Remember’ to honor the memories of friends and colleagues who lost their lives when the World Trade Center towers were destroyed”, said the announcement.
Aon occupied offices in the WTC’s South Tower and lost 175 employees in the attacks. It established the Memorial Education Fund immediately after Sept. 11 “to ensure that the children of Aon employees who were lost can pursue post-secondary education and to assist families with the educational requirements of children with special needs.”
