Overseas Partners US Re (OPUS Re) recently opened a new Chicago area office and appointed Douglas R. Behnke executive vice president and head of the Chicago branch.
Philadelphia-based OPUS Re said Behnke comes to the company with more than 20 years experience in senior underwriting and management positions with The St. Paul Companies and CNA Re. He will report to OPUS Re president and CEO Michael Cascio.
According to the company, opening the Chicago office will serve to bring OPUS Re’s specialist underwriting strategy closer to clients and production sources. The Chicago office will focus on working layer casualty business. Cascio said Behnke, who has expertise in the professional liability segment, is expected to bolster the company’s competence and enhance its market position in the working casualty area.
Overseas Partners US Re, which also specializes in agricultural and casualty facultative business lines, is a member of the Overseas Partners Limited (OPL) Group. In addition to OPUS Re, OPL has two other key subsidiaries: OP Re Ltd. concentrates on Finite and Semi-finite and Accident & Health while OP Cat was formed in 1999 to underwrite world-wide property catastrophe reinsurance programs.
