A Wayne County judge refused Tuesday to throw out a suit against more than 30 gun manufacturers and dealers and seeking $400 million in damages. Circuit Judge Jeanne Stempien denied the motion brought by the manufacturers and dealers to dismiss the suit, which seeks remedy for these groups not making greater efforts to stop gun sales in which buyers act as front men for juveniles and felons.
The city of Detroit and Wayne County filed separate suits in April. Wayne County decided on seeking legal action after a sting operation in which gun dealers were videotaped selling firearms to felons and underage buyers.
