Global specialty insurer and reinsurer Argo Group International Holdings, has appointed Matt Harris to be group head of the company’s international insurance operations, including the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Bermuda.
Jose A. Hernandez, who is currently head of International Operations, will become responsible for strategic initiatives across the company as International Operations chair.
Both Harris and Hernandez will report to CEO Mark E. Watson III.
Harris joined Argo in 2017 and was previously responsible for a large portion of Argo’s international business, including Europe, Asia and the Middle East. He brings 25 years of insurance experience to his new role. Harris joined Argo from ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ where he led South East Asia Country Operations. Prior to that, he was CEO of ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ Malaysia Insurance and CEO of ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ New Zealand. Earlier in his career, Harris served as chief representative for Insurance Australia Group in Mumbai, India.
Hernandez joined Argo in 2016. He started his insurance career more than 30 years ago working for several insurers in the U.S. and abroad. He spent more than 20 years with ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ in a number of senior leadership roles in the consumer and commercial segments. He has expertise in field operations, distribution, underwriting, claims, strategic planning and management. Over the course of his career, Hernandez has held country (Mexico), regional (Asia), and global (New York corporate headquarters) roles.
