Starr Cos. has launched an Accident & Health Division, based in Toronto, Canada. A&H coverages provided include business travel accident; group basic and voluntary accidental death & dismemberment; critical illness; and emergency out-of-province medical.
“Starr continues to expand its capabilities for many of our brokers and insureds, and we are pleased to announce our Accident & Health Division,” stated Hano Pak, chief agent and country executive.
“We are excited to expand into Canada with local talent and expertise to help develop and grow the local accident & health market,” stated Joyce Segall, head of domestic accident & health.
Starr has named Dave Claughton as the sales and underwriting manager, a 20-year veteran who previously held sales and underwriting roles at ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ (2004-2017), according to his LinkedIn profile. Most recently, he was a group personal accident underwriter at ÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½. He was a managing director in personal accident reinsurance for Lincoln National between 1995 and 1999, and worked for various life companies between 1985 and 1995.
In addition, Starr also appointed Jan Hughes from CSP Canada (2007-2017) as product and operations manager, her LinkedIn profile said. A 20-year industry veteran with underwriting and reinsurance experience, Hughes also held various positions at Duncanson & Holt Canada/Tri-Can Reinsurance between 1995 and 2007, the profile added.
