Marsh has completed its previously agreed acquisition of Leeds, England-based SME Insurance Services (SMEi), an independent broker which provides specialist commercial insurance to small and medium-sized enterprises across the UK. The transaction was announced on June 1.
The addition of SMEi’s online and call center platform enhances Marsh’s capability to serve small and medium-sized businesses across the UK, while SMEi’s Broker2Broker platform also brings significant benefit to the members of Marsh’s broker networks, the company said in a statement.
Roger Snowden and Jason Gandy, co-founders of SMEi, have now joined Marsh to help drive forward its small and medium-sized enterprise strategy.
“Our acquisition of SMEi considerably extends Marsh’s reach across the UK’s small and medium-sized enterprise sector,” said Mark Weil, CEO of Marsh UK & Ireland. “Since the announcement in June, we have been working closely with its management team and have been impressed by their knowledge, insight and understanding of the SME segment. I am delighted to welcome SMEi colleagues to Marsh.”
“Becoming part of Marsh is great news for our clients and colleagues alike,” said Gandy. “We look forward to a rapid integration of the businesses and delivering a better way for SMEs to obtain risk and insurance advice that enables them to be more resilient and successful.”
