Zurich Financial Services Group announced the appointment of Antônio Cássio dos Santos (46, Brazilian citizen) to the position of CEO LatAm General Insurance, effective May 1, 2011. He succeeds Peter Rebrin who has been appointed to the newly created position of Head Bank Distribution LatAm General Insurance.
Cássio Dos Santos will be responsible for “driving further profitable growth in Zurich’s General insurance businesses in Latin America aimed at strengthening its customer-focused leadership throughout the region’s insurance market,” Zurich said. He will report to Mario Greco, CEO General Insurance, and will be based in São Paulo, Brazil.
He is joining Zurich from Mapfre Brazil where he has served as CEO since 2000. Before that, he held a variety of executive positions among others as General Manager of Whirlpool/Multibrás, as General Manager of AVIS and as Chief Financial Officer of Adriática/RAS in Brazil.
Cássio Dos Santos holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University São Judas Tadeu in São Paulo, a MBA in Finance from IBMEC in São Paulo, a MBA in Strategy from the Vanderbilt University in Tennessee and a Postgraduate Degree in Global Management from IESE, University of Navarra in Madrid.
