The U.K.-based Beazley Group plc has announced the appointment of Gordon Hamilton as an independent, non-executive director, with effect from 8th September 2006. He will also join Beazley’s audit and remuneration committees.
“Gordon has over 30 years experience as an audit partner at Deloitte & Touche LLP and its predecessor practices, specializing in UK listed company audits, with extensive experience of board and audit committees,” said the bulletin.
He has been involved widely in forensic accounting as an expert witness in several major audit negligence cases and in the resolution of large commercial disputes. Since 2002 he has also been a member of the Financial Reporting Review Panel, an Operating Body of the Financial Reporting Council, the UK’s independent regulator for corporate reporting and governance.
CEO Andrew Beazley commented: “I am delighted to welcome Gordon Hamilton to the Board. In an increasingly complicated accounting environment, his extensive experience in audit, accounting and regulation, working with UK listed companies, will prove invaluable.”
