Following almost a week of uninterrupted rain, roughly one third of the Eastern Australian State of New South Wales is under water. The worst floods in over 20 years have caused widespread damage, and forced the evacuation of many homes and farms.
According to a BBC report local farmers, who were preparing to harvest their cotton and wheat crops, estimate their damages will reach $265 million. There are no estimations as yet on the amount of losses to property and livestock, but, as the rain continues, they are expected to be substantial.
Isolated towns and villages have had to rely on helicopters for supplies of food, clean water and medical supplies.
