Ireland’s IONA Technologies announced that its Enterprise Portal Company “has signed a multi-million dollar, multi year contract with Winterhur Versicherungen, the Swiss-based global insurance company, to build a web-to-host claims reporting and processing system.
The e-business solution is based on IONA’s iPortal Suiteâ„¢.” The announcement came on top of positive earnings results-$30.7 million in sales and $3.2 million in pretax profit for the first quarter-for the Dublin-based software maker. Winterhur plans to integrate the new system with existing software.
“The initial applications built with iPortal suite components will be in the areas of claims reporting, damage correspondence and damage payments. The application server will be key to allowing Winterhur to create new application systems to make their customers’ lives easier,” said the announcement. Dr. Chris Horn, IONA’s Chairman and CEO, said “The new B2B platform enables the reuse of previously developed components, and facilitates the integration of core business applications into new applications.”
