Eunice Ting, of Watervliet, New York, pled guilty last Thursday to making a false statement to obtain benefits from the Department of Labor’s workers’ compensation program.
According to prosecutors, Ting admitted that between December 2013 and March 2020, she falsely claimed workers’ compensation benefits for medically-related travel to and from a local YMCA for purported “aquatic therapy” when she had not received any such therapy and did not travel to the YMCA as claimed.
According to prosecutors, she received a total of $26,983 from the Department of Labor because of her fraudulent submissions.
U.S. Attorney Carla B. Freedman and Special Agent in Charge Matthew Modafferi, U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General, announced the plea.
Ting is scheduled to be sentenced on August 24, 2023 in Albany. Prosecutors said that Ting has agreed to pay full restitution.
