An Auburn, Maine, company that makes automotive fabric products is facing more than $100,000 in federal fines for allegedly putting its employees in harm’s way.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration on Tuesday cited Formed Fiber Technologies Inc. for seven alleged workplace safety violations and for exposing employees to “the risk of lacerations, crushed fingers, amputation or worse if struck by or caught in unguarded or unexpectedly activated machinery.”
OSHA says no injuries have been reported.
Formed Fiber Technologies President Chris Richard tells the Sun Journal his company is reviewing the OSHA citations and “places the highest priority on workplace safety.”
Formed Fiber Technologies has 15 business days from receipt of the citations and proposed penalties to comply with or contest the findings.
