Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy’s revised $20 billion budget funds several recommendations from a panel that examined the response to the remnants of Hurricane Irene and the freak October snow storm.
The plan unveiled Wednesday adds $2 million to the $500,000 currently budgeted at the Department of Transportation for tree-trimming. Fallen trees and limbs were blamed for the lengthy power outages.
Malloy also wants to spend $500,000 on annual real-time emergency training exercises, and $5 million in bond funds for a new pilot program to encourage the development of a micro-electric grid.
