Connecticut officials say they are investigating a charter bus company that allegedly transported 250 students to Washington, D.C., on unregistered and uninsured buses.
The state Department of Motor Vehicles says its inspectors visited Affordable Bus Charter Inc. in Northford on Thursday to review its records, two days after the incident involving the Fairfield middle school students’ trip.
DMV officials say they called police in Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Park Service after learning the registrations and insurance had expired in late March.
Those agencies stopped the five buses Tuesday as they left Arlington National Cemetery, but the students were able to continue their trip on other vehicles. DMV officials say the five bus drivers were properly licensed.
A message left Friday at Affordable Bus Charter’s office was not immediately returned.
