The father of a Rhode Island motorcyclist who was killed in May by a driver running a red light has sued his insurance company.
The Westerly Sun reports that Richard “Robin” Foote’s lawsuit challenges a settlement he was offered by Geico after his son’s death. Colin Foote was killed when his motorcycle was struck by a car driven by Laura Reale, who has admitted guilt and is in prison. The Sun says the company’s lawyers didn’t return its call for comment.
The lawsuit says Foote’s policy covered accidents in which the other driver doesn’t have enough coverage. It says Geico improperly demanded Foote deduct medical and funeral expenses from the payout and return money from damages recovered in a lawsuit against Reale.
