A new survey by a trade group for New York agents finds insurance producers give their carriers good marks for honesty and fair treatment — but find insurance companies don’t pay them enough.

The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of New York (IIABNY) said the its annual of how independent agents view their companies showed an increase of 2.4 points over last year for personal lines insurers insurance and a 1.6-point increase for commercial insurers. Super-regional companies had the highest scores in both categories, but companies that write personal insurance nationwide showed the most improvement, with a 3.1-point gain.

“These results clearly show that insurance companies are trying very hard to keep their sales forces happy,” said Kathy Weinheimer, IIABNY’s senior vice president of industry relations and education. “The index shows a definite trend of agents viewing their companies in a more positive light.”

There were 264 agents surveyed, representing 238 insurance agencies in the state.
