The Professional Insurance Agents of New York honored the late Camilla Belser, former vice president and regional manager of Merchants Insurance Group, as its executive of the year from the Hudson Valley region.
Belser died of cancer earlier this year. At a ceremony on Monday, her husband, Joel, accepted the award in her memory.
Belser was one of the highest-ranking female insurance executives in the Downstate New York region, and topped the list of PIANY’s nominees and was chosen to receive the award for her professionalism and for her recognition of the importance of the agent-carrier relationship.
In addition to professional success, Belser was a pillar of her community, chairing industry events and fundraising for causes such as Long Island’s United Way, for which she raised millions of dollars.
