The New Hampshire House is holding hearings on two bills today that would prevent the state from requiring sprinklers in homes.
The bills would stop the state from enforcing amendments to building codes that expand requirements for sprinkler systems.
Last month the Building Code Review Board voted to require sprinklers in every newly constructed single- and two-family homes and town houses starting in 2012.
The requirement could cost several thousand dollars depending on the size of the home
