The owner of the property where a New Hampshire man was murdered is at odds with his insurance company over a wrongful death lawsuit from the man’s family.
Michael Connors owned the Deerfield horse farm where Jack Reid of Derry was bludgeoned in 2005 by millionaire businessman John “Jay” Brooks and three others.
The Eagle Tribune reports Connors wants Vermont Mutual Insurance Co. to provide his defense and insurance coverage. Vermont Mutual is fighting that.
Connors was a state witness in two defendants’ trials, including that of Brooks, his friend and one-time business partner. Connors, who was out of town when Reid was killed, testified he didn’t know about a plan to kill him. He said he gave Brooks access to his property to renovate his barn.
